Invisalign Q & A

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign aligners are custom-made, clear trays that fit perfectly over your teeth. You wear a series of them, with each one slightly shifting your teeth until you achieve your desired result. The Invisalign trays are engineered to move your teeth using a precise amount of force exactly where it’s needed to shift your teeth horizontally, vertically, or rotationally.

Who is a good candidate for Invisalign?

The team at Vibrant Smile Dentistry realizes that everyone has a unique smile, so they recommend you schedule an Invisalign consultation to see if it’s the right choice for you. In many cases, Invisalign can help straighten and correct dental issues, including:

  • Gapped teeth
  • Overbites
  • Underbites
  • Crowded teeth
  • Spacing/diastema closure
  • Open bites
  • Deep bites
  • Flared teeth
  • End-to-end bites

Invisalign works best for both teens and adults and usually isn't recommended for children. To find out if Invisalign is right for you, come to Vibrant Smiles Dentistry for a consultation.

How long is the Invisalign treatment process?

The Invisalign treatment varies in duration since it is based on your needs and custom-designed to meet your goals. The first step in the treatment process is a consultation. Your dentist at Vibrant Smile Dentistry evaluates your teeth, discusses your desired outcome, and explains if Invisalign can help get you there.

Next, your dentist uses either a digital scanning system to create precise, digital 3D images of your teeth, or they may take physical impressions of your teeth. Based on these images or impressions, your dentist creates a custom treatment plan for the exact movements of your teeth.

Your dentist goes over how long your specific treatment will take, how many sets of aligners you need, and what you can expect from your Invisalign treatment. Typically, you wear the aligners for 20 to 22 hours a day for optimal results. You can remove them to eat and brush your teeth each day.

As your teeth shift into place with each new set of aligners, your dentist monitors your progress. After the treatment, you will probably have to wear a retainer to keep your teeth in place.

Take the first step toward straighter teeth without the inconvenience of traditional metal braces. Call the office or request a consultation online with the team at Vibrant Smile Dentistry.
